Before I
tell you about Seattle, I have to mention our flight with Southwest. Now I
wasn't expecting much - it was the cheapest flight going, and the process
checking in and boarding the flight was completely chaotic - but it was THE
BEST flight I have ever been on.
I was crying
with laughter at the cabin crew manager, he would not have been out of place on
the stage the Hammersmith Apollo. Dan didn't find him that funny (at least he didn't admit to it) but I was
not the only one in tears.
I have to share
a few of my favourite lines:
Keep your
belt tight and low on your hips - just like J-Lo's jeans.
Should this
flight turn into a cruise there are life jackets under your seat.
Today we
have someone very special travelling with us, he's 90 years old and it's his
very first flight - please give a round of applause for your captain.
In the
unexpected event that the air masks drop please apply your own before helping
your child. If you have more than one child, please pick your favourite.
They
obviously aren't as funny reading them off a screen, but trust me, they were at
the time.
I really
hope that one day I'll get to travel on the same flight as him one day.
So. Seattle.
Wow. It was even better than I was expecting. We had one and a half days, and
it was the perfect amount of time to see everything we wanted to and not feel
rushed, and it was also a great combination of things (I like to try and mix
our days up so it includes a mixture of activities - something active like
paddle boarding, a museum, a cultural site, a tour of some kind). Seattle was
great for this - we went up the space needle, had time for shopping, had a food
tour, went on a harbour cruise, visited the Klondike Gold Rush Museum,
looked around the Chihuly Glass Museum, and walked around the Olympic Sculpture
Park.
My top two?
The Chihuly Gardens and Glass Museum and the food tour around Pike Place
Market.
