DRIVING DOWN THE PCH

Wow! What a fun first day on our road trip. As we had to fly into LAX last night {flights were quite a bit more to fly directly to San Diego} today was mainly a driving day to get to San Diego. But boy am I glad we had to do that.

We saw some really beautiful places driving down the Pacific Coast Highway - lots of white sand and turquoise sea.

Once Dan had figured out his driving {he had a tendency to swerve to the right} we were on our way to our first stop: Laguna Beach.

We paddled in the sea and looked around the little boutique shops. It was fun to see it in real life after watching it on TV!

After that it was off to La Jolla - now this I think is what Dan was most excited about...meeting Tony Hawk. He was making an appearance at Sprinkles, so we got in line {it was quite a line} and waited. And waited some more. It took about an hour but we got into the cupcake shop and Dan met his childhood hero. We got the all important photo, bought a couple of cupcakes and we were on our way.

After lunch at Smashburger {I think my new favourite burger place EVER, they even have sweet potato fries} we walked along the beach, saw the seals and ate our cupcakes.

We were then onto San Diego via a Target stop to the hotel {we ran out of time to visit Point Loma, but hopefully we'll be able to do that on the way back up}.

Dan and I went for a late night swim before falling into bed, exhausted.
