It was 10 May last Sunday - the birthday of the first president of Azerbaijan - and here, that means flowers. Everywhere.
I loved it! We'd been watching them build everything over the past month, so to see all of the structures covered with flowers was really cool. But my favourite thing had to have been the little flower girls - both official and unofficial - all dressed up as flowers {there were also a few that got a bit creative and came as bees and other garden-related items as well}.
It's open for the week, but the old ladies go and steal flowers at night, so after a couple of days if starts to look a bit tired. Dan even walked past an old lady with a bunch of flowers in her hand fighting off a policeman one night this week.
{I apologise for Dan's hair - he wanted to shave it. He can now see why I objected.}
